Frequently Asked Questions on Elderflower Infusion

Elderflower Herbal Tea is a 100% natural herbal tea made from dried elderflowers, grown in Quebec by Fruitomed. The flowers contain powerful active ingredients: flavonoids, triterpenes, essential oils, and minerals (8 to 9%, very rich in potassium). It is known for its antihistamine, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and expectorant properties. Available in 75g (approx. 75 servings) or 1kg bulk formats.

For one cup, steep about 1 g of dried elderflowers (one heaping teaspoon) in 250 ml of simmering (not boiling) water for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain with an herbal tea infuser (available at the Fruitomed shop). Can be consumed hot or cold, with or without honey, as preferred.

A 75g bag makes approximately 75 cups of herbal tea (at a rate of 1g per cup). For more intensive or family use, the 1kg size is available. The flowers can be stored for a long time in an airtight container, away from light and humidity.

The taste is delicious—delicate, floral, and naturally slightly sweet, thanks to the aromas of the elderflowers dried at low temperatures. Some users find it mild, others prefer to enhance it with a touch of honey, lemon, or mint. It can also be combined with other herbal teas (chamomile, thyme, mint).

Yes. Thanks to their delicate aroma, dried elderflowers are also used in cooking:

In bread making

In jellies and jams

As aromatic condiments

It is a versatile ingredient much appreciated in Nordic and Quebecois gastronomy.
